Interview Submission Process

Jokulsarlon, Iceland
(Michael McGraw 2010)

If you would like to be a featured artist on www.Local-Artist-Interviews.com, we have a process for submissions.  Copy and paste the information in a text document or email and submit all of the requested information to localartistinfo@gmail.com.

Requirements for submission:
1. Minnesota resident living and working in Minnesota.
2. Have a MNartists.org profile.  Free.  (This is a good time to add some current work to your profile).
3. Be a 2D/3D tangible artist. You must have adequate online evidence that you are a working artist.
4. Suggested: If you have a Facebook page, please "Like" the LAI site and send a friend request to Michael McGraw (Site Operator).  This helps with the networking component when having an interview featured on LAI.

All content on LAI  is the property of www.local-artist-interviews.com and cannot be used without permission. You may link to the site or quote from the site as long as there is a link to the original post. Copyright 2010-2011.  All artwork on this site remains the property of the artist and used here with permission.  Local Artist Interviews reserves the right to use images on its site for other marketing and promotion.

Here are the standard interview questions for this process.  You may add up to 2 questions to guide the interview how you would like it to read, but you cannot delete any questions.

In addition to answering these questions, please attach 5 web-sized jpgs (800 pixels on the largest side) to include with the interview.  You can include 2 more if you send a photo of yourself or your workspace.

If you mention particular artists in your answers, please provide links to their websites.  It should look like this: One of my favorite photographers is Michael McGraw http://www.michaelmcgraw.info who is doing some very exciting things on metallic paper.  If you do not provide links, it is a missed opportunity to provide exposure to other artists.

Things that create extra work for LAI: Don't Do These Things!
  • Do not abbreviate the questions when you submit your responses.  Your interview will be returned for reformatting.
  • Do not embed your images in a text document.  All images must be sent as attachments.
  • Do not send me extremely large jpegs.  800 pixels x 800 pixels is the largest I'll accept.

For unsolicited interviews, please check to see that you meet all of the above criteria first.  To date I have only turned away one person--she was a writer, not a visual artist. If you have questions about whether you meet the criteria for submission, you can contact me first if you like. You will be notified of when your interview is featured so you can pass the word.

With any interview posted, please be aware that I will also be posting images online of your art (crediting the artist), and using some of the images in links online to promote your article.  Submission of your interview gives express permission for LAI to use your images for promotion purposes.

Send your information in an email to (localartistinfo@gmail.com).  When composing your email, do not do hard returns in mid-paragraphy so that it is ore readable in the email; it's a pain in the ass to reformat when I post it to the website.

Your name and medium should be included in the subject line (Pablo Picasso - Painter - Interview).

Thanks for all of your time that you will put into your interviews.  Your work will strengthen the art community in Minnesota.

As you submit your interview, this is a good time to become a Featured Member of LAI.  Local Artist Interviews is supported through Springboard for the Arts' Fiscal Sponsor program which gives LAI the opportunity to accept tax deductible donations to help support the site.

LAI has a suggested donation of $10 for all artists submitting an interview profile. Every little bit helps.  As a "thank you", we will keep your interview as a living document where you can update your information to help you promote new exhibits or new work for 12 months.  This will enable you to use your interview as an on-going promotional tool.

By contributing $20 or more, our "thank you" gift will be to add your interview to the Featured Artist page for the year with an image link to your interview and a side-bar listing to the collection of featured artists.  In addition, LAI will promote your events on their calendar section and allow for interview updates like in the $10 donation level.

For maximum visibility, you may want to consider sponsoring a tile/image link that would appear on every page.  Contact LAI to discuss rates and options.

To contribute, please visit the LAI Give.mn page.
